Part 1
“The story takes place in Hawaii and Saipan. We thought, there are other places we could have shot it, for instance Australia or Mexico.  But we thought because it is such an American story and we use American crew, Hawaii is a logical choice.”

Part 2
“We shot a film in Australia – Mission Impossible 2. There are a lot of problems with the unions; we can’t bring our people there.  We have also shot in Mexico.  I always wanted to do a film in Hawaii; I have been a tourist six or seven times, and I really love this place.  I was looking for an excuse to do a film here and this was a perfect chance.”

Part 3a
“Basically, we shot on two locations here on Oahu: one is the Kualoa Ranch and the other is here at the Dillingham Estate.  You know they have perfect locations for a movie.  At Kualoa Ranch we shot a huge battle scene."

Part 3b
"...The first shot we did was we got 700 extras, three to four hundred crewmen, seven tanks, and 279 explosions.  Where else can we find a place to do this?  We needed a huge valley, and that was perfect for this.  We have this beautiful plantation, coconut plantation, and the look is so amazing, so I am really happy with the two places we picked.”

Part 4
“Aside from locations, I think we have a very good Hawaiian crew here.  Which is a great relief for us because you know we’ve shot other places, other states, or other countries and sometimes, the most difficult thing for us, aside from location, is the quality of the crew people.  But here, perfect, great crew and very nice people: the people are so friendly.”
